Certification is a cornerstone activity of professional associations. Our purpose in certification is to promote excellent practices and professionalism in the field.
Worker certification indicates to the government, employers and the public that individuals have the core skills necessary to provide effective service in the chosen field. In order to achieve this goal, ADWA certification is based on a rigorous assessment of whether the candidate meets accepted standards in core competencies identified as important by our sector and those served by it.
Certification does not guarantee that the individual will always put skills into practice when needed, only that the individual was able to demonstrate that the knowledge or skill was possessed at the time of the evaluation. Practice is also influenced by the rules and accepted practices of the employer, the motivations of the individual and their physical and mental state, which is affected by fatigue, stress and competing situational demands.
